BUPA and AXA PPP to provide support to the NHS

Breaking News

BUPA and AXA PPP healthcare are among 14 organisations that the Department of Health (DH) has chosen to offer support services to the NHS.

The organisations will offer data analysis and contract management expertise to primary care trusts (PCTs) through an agreement with the DH, known as the Framework for procuring External Support for Commissioners (FESC).

Health Minister Ivan Lewis said PCTs will be able to work with organisations that are already known and trusted, which will enable them to concentrate their efforts on providing patient care.

"Of course, it will be up to PCTs to decide if they want to use suppliers within the framework and, if they choose to do so, PCTs will remain fully responsible and accountable for managing the services provided," he added.

The DH said that a typical kind of service that could be offered by one of the organisations would be in the delivery of data analysis services to help PCTs assess the specific community needs of the local population, analyse trends and pinpoint areas of particular need.

The organisations selected for inclusion on the FESC are: Aetna; AXA PPP healthcare; BUPA: CHKS; Dr Foster; Health Dialog Services; Humana; KPMG; McKesson Information Solutions; McKinsey; Navigant Consulting; Tribal Consulting; UnitedHealth Europe; and WG Consulting Healthcare.
